Typhoon Khanun (台風6号) has passed over Okinawa Prefecture and is expected to turn back to the islands on Friday night, August 4. Typhoon conditions are expected to persist through early Sunday, August 6, and the U.S. Consulate General in Naha will resume routine operations on Monday, August 7. The Consular Section is open for special scheduled appointments and emergency services today, August 4.

U.S. citizens in Okinawa Prefecture are encouraged to monitor local news media and follow guidance of prefectural government officials. Updates from the Japan Meteorological Agency and the U.S. Navy Joint Typhoon Warning Center can be found online.
