Deputy Secretary Sherman Visits Japan

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman visited Japan July 19-22 for meetings with Japanese officials to discuss a broad range of issues.

Deputy Secretary Sherman tweeted: “My sincere thanks to Vice Foreign Minister Mori for hosting me in Tokyo. The U.S.-Japan alliance has never been stronger as our countries work together to maintain peace and security in the region and to tackle issues of global importance, including ending the pandemic.”

Sherman also met with abductee families, and she tweeted: “It was deeply moving to meet the families of Japanese citizens abducted by the DPRK. The United States stands with Japan in calling for the immediate resolution of the abduction issue.”
