Learn, exchange, grow, and serve. The U.S. Department of State offers many programs for non-U.S. citizens wishing to come to the U.S. for cultural, educational, or professional exchange. These programs are augmented by local opportunities in countries around that world that allow non-U.S. citizens to explore U.S. culture and the English language.
The United States supports international education and welcomes foreign students and exchange visitors. Before applying for a visa, students and exchange visitors must be accepted by their schools or program sponsors.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan is pleased to announce its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. Annually, awards are granted through Project-Specific Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs). The 2022 deadline for submission was April 15. The next application period will open by the end of 2022. Additional updates will be posted here throughout the year. Awards are also granted through an Annual Program Statement (APS). Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and will be reviewed quarterly. Proposals that address key strategic interests may be approved for funding outside the Notice of Opportunity cycle.
