Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs
The Public Affairs Section handles all aspects of public diplomacy for the United States government and U.S. Embassy in Japan. Public diplomacy covers a wide range of programs and activities in press, information, culture, and education. The section works to strengthen U.S.-Japan relations by:
- Explaining U.S. policies, while presenting American society in all its complexity so that others can understand the context of U.S. actions, and
- Creating and administering educational and cultural exchange programs which increase understanding between the people of Japan and the United States.
