Ambassador Kennedy and her Country Team worked hard to support the 2014 edition of the annual Southeast U.S. – Japan (SEUS) Conference during its week of commercial networking and relationship building in Tokyo. The Amb. received Mississippi Governor Bryant for a call, met with the heads of delegation of the seven participating southeastern states, and addressed the full 300+ contingent at an evening reception. CS and Embassy staff worked several group and individual delegation briefings, including a counseling session with the Defense Assistance Office at the Embassy, in support of Ingalls Shipyard’s efforts to line up new customers and strategic partners in Japan for their state-of-the art naval vessels in a part of the world where marine assets are receiving added attention, and a talk that focused on the stepped-up SelectUSA program. SCO Wylegala also made remarks at a SEUS Florida delegate briefing attended by Florida Commerce Secretary Gray Swoope, and Consul General Shinji Nakashima of Miami.
