“Go for Gold” Campaign Reaches Out to Students

The Embassy has launched its “Go for Gold” campaign in conjunction with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Board of Education as part of the Olympic/Paralympic education program called the “Global Friendship Project.” The Embassy will engage up to 240 public schools and approximately 150,000 students through 2020.

“Go for Gold” is an opportunity for schools and students to meet a U.S. diplomat and learn more about America. In addition to school visits, schools can participate in programs at the American Center, teachers can participate in special English language training programs for English teachers, and students can meet with EducationUSA study abroad advisers to learn more about studying in the United States.

Ambassador Hagerty tweeted: “When I first met @ecoyuri, she told me about the Tokyo Board of Education’s “Global Friendship Project,” an Olympic/Paralympic education program. Now, we enter a new collaboration with “Go for Gold,” the Embassy’s signature Olympics-related program.” #G4G #Tokyo2020
