NASA Names 18 Astronauts to Train for Artemis Moon Landings

astronauts standing in front of NASA signNASA has selected 18 astronauts to form the Artemis Team and help pave the way for the next missions to the Moon. The astronauts come from diverse backgrounds and have a range of expertise and experience.

Vice President Mike Pence introduced five of the new astronauts at a ceremony at the Kennedy Space Center, saying “The Artemis generation are the heroes of American space exploration in the future.”

NASA’s modern lunar exploration program will land the first woman and next man on the Moon in 2024 and establish a sustainable human lunar presence by the end of the decade.
