The leaders held meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on September 21 to discuss issues of mutual concern including enhanced sanctions on North Korea. President Trump and Prime Minister Abe also met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

President Trump said, “We have had numerous discussions already today, and this is a formalization of the discussions. We’ve made a lot of progress, both on trade and obviously, very importantly, we’ve discussed in great detail North Korea – with also South Korea as you just saw.”
