Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Motegi Meet in London

Blinken meeting MotegiOn May 3, Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting in London. The two emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Japan Alliance for promoting peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

Additionally, Secretary Blinken reiterated the U.S. commitment to the immediate resolution of the abductions issue, and they discussed the urgent need to put Burma on the path back toward democracy and to hold the military junta to account.

In a May 5 meeting with Motegi and Republic of Korea Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong, the three diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to concerted trilateral cooperation toward denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
