The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo cautions U.S. citizens that Typhoon Talim (Typhoon Number 18) is expected to make landfall in Okinawa Prefecture near the Sakishima islands, which include Miyako, Ishigaki, Iriomote and Yonaguni Islands, during the early morning of September 13, 2017, and then move toward Taiwan and mainland China. The storm may affect neighboring islands including Kumejima Island, and Okinawa Island. In conjunction with this storm, the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a High Wave advisory for affected regions of Okinawa Prefecture.
