FAQs for COVID-19 Testing and Travel to the United States

Effective January 26, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel. Below is a list of testing facilities that have indicated they can conduct COVID-19 testing within the 72-hour turnaround time. The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo assumes no responsibility or liability for the professional ability or reputation of, or the quality of services provided by, the following institutions or laboratories. Inclusion on this list is no way an endorsement by the Department of State or the U.S. Embassy. Names are listed in no particular order, and the order in which they appear has no other significance. The Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare also maintains a list of fee-based testing services in Japanese only.

Requirements for traveling to Hawaii differ from the rest of the United States. Inform the clinic of your destination in the United States prior to taking the COVID-19 test and visit the State of Hawaii COVID travel page for more information.
