It’s a great day for another commercial diplomacy success between the United States and Japan. Today, I joined Micron Chairman Mehrotra, METI Director General Nohara, and Hiroshima Governor Yuzaki to celebrate Micron’s world-class semiconductor fabrication facility in Hiroshima as it launches the production of its cutting-edge One Beta technology. Micron’s One Beta chip is particularly important to Japan’s digital transformation – it’s the most advanced memory chip in the world and enables everything from cell phones and cars to defense systems and data centers.
For the last three years, the United States and Japan have been the top foreign direct investor in each other’s country. Working together and investing in the future, we are on track to making it four out of four years. These investments in each other’s countries and economies are good for the United States, good for Japan, and good for American and Japanese tech leadership in the world. Let’s keep the momentum going.
