Passports / Reports of Birth / Notarial Services
The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo has limited availability for routine appointments for Consular Reports of Birth, passports, and notarial services. If you need an urgent appointment for international travel, documentation of citizenship and identify for a child, or for purposes related to Japanese immigration or a critical notary service, please email TokyoPPT@state.gov. For applicants who used the electronic application for the Consular Report of Birth, please allow 5 working days between payment submission and interview appointment time. Please note that mail-in renewal is available for most adult passports (see more information). At this time, the passport unit is unable to accept phone calls.

The U.S. Consulate in Osaka is offering limited passport and report of birth appointments online. To make an appointment for passports/reports of birth, please go to our appointments page. Be sure to select “Osaka-Kobe” as the place for your appointment. Please print a copy of your appointment confirmation from the website and bring it with you to your appointment.
Each family member seeking a service related to passports or birth registration should make an individual appointment. At the time you receive your appointment confirmation page to print, you also will be offered the option to make a separate appointment for another individual.
Appointments are normally made available two weeks before the appointment date. Appointments may also become available if there are cancellations or other scheduling changes. Please check the appointment calendar frequently if your desired date is not available.
Due to space restrictions, we are only able to accommodate emergency notarial appointments. If you have an urgent need for notarial services, please email AOK@state.gov and state the nature of your emergency.
Please note: Individuals coming to the Consulate in Osaka for consular services are now required to bring and wear protective masks. You will not be allowed entry without a mask.
Due to strict social distancing guidance, we are unable to allow anyone into our waiting room other than the applicants who are required to be present at the time of your appointment. Please refrain from bringing your friends or spouse to the Consulate, if they do not need to be present for your application.
