Location: Western Japan, including Osaka and Hiroshima (August 14-16, 2019)
Event: Typhoon Krosa is expected to bring extremely high winds, dangerous storm tides, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding to areas of Western Japan, including Kyushu, Shikoku, and western Honshu, beginning Wednesday, August 14, 2019, and continuing through the early morning of Friday, August 16, 2019, when the storm is expected to move north away from the Kansai region. Based on current tracking, the storm may also cause further weather disruptions throughout Central Japan as Krosa moves north.
Any closures of Mission Japan facilities will be communicated via Facebook, Twitter, and the Embassy website.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid travel to affected areas until the storm has dissipated.
- All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to the area should monitor local weather reports, follow directions from local officials, and take other appropriate actions as needed.
- Seek secure shelter as appropriate.
